"Marco came to look at our panel and found a Federal Pacific breaker issue that two other companies missed. He explained everything in plain terms, pulled the permit himself, and had it replaced in one day. The inspector passed it on the first visit. We've used Rivera Electric for everything since."

About Rivera Electric

Started by a Tampa
Electrician. Still Run by One.

Marco Rivera started Rivera Electric in 2007 after spending a decade as a licensed journeyman for commercial contractors. He wanted to build something where he knew every customer by name and where the quality didn't slip because someone was rushing a job to make the next one.

The company has grown to a four-person crew — all licensed journeymen — and hasn't changed its model. Marco is still on most jobs. Every permit is pulled before the work starts. Every inspection is passed before the panel is closed up.

"Rivera Electric installed a 200-amp panel upgrade and two GFCI circuits in our 1960s Seminole Heights home. They pulled all permits, scheduled the inspection, and passed on the first visit. Price was exactly what they quoted. Incredibly professional."

"Needed a Level 2 EV charger installed in my garage. Marco came out the next morning, assessed the panel, installed a 240V dedicated circuit, and had the charger running by noon. Clean work, no damage to the walls, permit handled completely by them."

"Called Rivera Electric about a breaker that kept tripping. Every other company said replace the panel. Marco found the actual problem — a loose connection behind an outlet — fixed it in 20 minutes, and charged a fraction of what a panel replacement would've cost. Honest guys."

"We had aluminum wiring throughout our 1970s home — a real fire risk. Rivera Electric re-wired the entire house in three days, coordinated the permit and inspection, and our insurance company was completely satisfied. Pricing was fair and everything came in as quoted."

"Added six recessed lights and a ceiling fan in our living room. The crew was on time, protected our floors, patched the drywall cleanly, and cleaned up before leaving. No surprises on the bill. We'll call Rivera Electric every time."

"Emergency call on a Saturday morning — sparks from an outlet near our kitchen sink. Marco arrived within the hour, identified a failed GFCI circuit wired incorrectly by a previous contractor, and replaced the whole run safely. Exactly what you need from a neighborhood electrician."

Common Questions

Electrical Questions,
Answered Straight

Most residential jobs range from $150–$500 for repairs and installations. Panel upgrades typically run $1,800–$3,500 installed. Rivera Electric provides written upfront estimates before any work begins — no hourly billing surprises.
Yes — most electrical work in Tampa requires a permit from Hillsborough County. We handle every permit: file, schedule the inspection, and pass it. You never deal with the permit office yourself.
A standard 200-amp panel upgrade typically takes 4–6 hours. Power is off only during the swap. We schedule the inspection same week so your permit closes quickly.
Yes. We install Level 2 (240V) home EV chargers for all major brands — Tesla, ChargePoint, Wallbox, and others. We check panel capacity, run the dedicated circuit, pull the permit, and handle TECO rebate paperwork where applicable.
Aluminum wiring from the 1960s–70s is a fire risk if connections have deteriorated. We can inspect, add COPALUM or AlumiConn connectors at outlets, or do a full copper rewire depending on the extent. We'll tell you honestly what's needed.
We offer same-day service Mon–Fri 7am–6pm and Saturday 8am–3pm for urgent situations. For active electrical hazards — sparks, burning smell, or no power to critical systems — call us immediately at (813) 555-0847.
